Swami Vivekanand was not just an inspiring man, he was a revolutionary thinker who changed the way Hinduism is perceived all across the globe. He was the first Indian to represent the country and Hinduism on an international level. As to this day, his thoughts have enlightened the conscience of many world leaders.
He was the first Indian to represent his country and Hinduism at the gigantic platform- Parliament of the World’s Religions in year 1893. There is an interesting tale behind this.
During his time in Boston, a woman was who was conspicuously observing Swami Vivekanand came up to him and said,
“CAN’T YOU WEAR PROPER CLOTHES TO LOOK LIKE A GENTLEMAN?”
Swami Ji, who was then dressed in his signature orange robe smiled and in all politeness said,
“IN YOUR CULTURE, A TAILOR MAKES A GENTLEMAN; BUT, IN OUR CULTURE, CHARACTER MAKES GENTLEMAN.”
